What a beautiful weekend for football! ☀️😎⚽ It was great to see the club coming alive from 9 o’clock as teams, parents and supporters came together with smiles on their faces, buoyant from the lovely sunshine. In true British weather fashion I should imagine that is the whole summer over an done with but let’s keep our fingers crossed for a scorcher! 🤞
It’s another great roundup with loads of exciting scorelines, outstanding players and wonderful photos!
Reminder – in accordance with FA rules we do not publish the results of teams participating in U7 to U11 games. We celebrate effort, teamwork and participation in the younger teams.
Wolves (U9) SPONSORED BY ANV Measurement Systems
Wolves enjoyed a fine and sunny morning’s football in Great Horwood, putting together some great passing and flawless defending.
Jensen grabbed his first Wolves goal with a cool finish after pinball in the box, Eden scored two, his 2nd being an excellent finish after dribbling past 2 players, Albie scored a long range effort from the left and Dries kept up his good scoring record with a neat finish.
Jake was excellent down the left going on many mazy runs to get the ball forward, Elliott did well at right wing, centre mid and sweeper. Riley was bossing things as sweeper as usual and Pedro performed well in goal and was then his usual tricky self in attack. Flynn battled hard in midfield and also took the keeper Gloves for another complete display.
Man of the Match today was Max, who was superb at the back, not putting a foot wrong throughout the whole match. Using his strength to tackle and clearing everything that came into our box. Well done Max!
Pearls (U8) sponsored by Mini Monsters
The Pearls worked so hard in training learning about positioning in the three phases of play. At Kempston today, against a very technically strong and physical side, was the perfect time to put practice into action in the sunshine.
And didn’t they deliver. The team really starting to trust each other with their passing and moving, leading to some moments of brilliance and opportunities abound.
5* performance from Miami as she took her chances putting the ball on the back of the net 5 times. Even curling one in direct from the corner!
Holly and Vega providing a solid defence to build from. With Amelia + Rosie putting in a driven effort in midfield and Crystal doing awesome in goal.
Player of the match went to Amelia-Terry who never stop attitude plus some good passing was key today. She should be very proud of her efforts.
Jets (U11) sponsored by WAC Agency
Nice comfortable win for Jets today. Great passing and all that extra training clearly paid off. Hatrick for Kitty and Eloise (2) and new girl Chloe getting her debut goal.
Girl of the match: Chloe
Crystals (U18) sponsored by J Cresswell Landscaping
Our u18 Crystals entertained Berkhamsted Raiders at Woughton on the green. Quite a scrappy game on a bobbly surface, it was Berkhamsted who took the lead, in the 25th minute, breaking away from Crystals own corner to score on the counterattack.
Crystals equalised when a corner swung in by Hope Elverson was cleared out to her, who duly replied by curling into the far corner from the edge of the box. Five minutes later, Crystals took the lead. Four one touch passes ended in Hermione Hilton firing home. Berkhamsted equalised a few mins later, taking advantage of sloppy defending.
Right on half time, Crystals went ahead again, Hermione scoring another fine goal. The second half was fairly even, Crystals digging in when needed, and extended their lead midway through the half. Rozalia Zycinska with a super finish to put Crystals 4-2 ahead, and that’s how the game ended, Crystals remain 3rd in the division with a game in hand on the leaders.
Hawks (U16) sponsored by Aro Installations
Mk City U16 Hawks; After 6 weeks of no wins and losing by a goal margin every week, the U16 Hawks finally managed to win by two goals to one (1-2). Only 11 players showed up for an away game at Towcester. What a relief to parents and coaches it was getting miserable. Last year’s runners up are battling to be 4th this year. Two games to go🙏
Jades (u10) sponsored by Tarbox Cleaning Services
MK City Jades V Flitwick
Jades played a Plate game against a well organised Flitwick teams. The girls dominated large parts of the game, creating a lot of chances but was unable to convert them. Flitwick created their own chances but Hannah and Shanae defended brilliantly and the GK Emily who is job a little easier.
The girls started the second half brilliantly and created more chances which saw Roise, Martha and Summer came close to scoring but Flitwick GK was there to stop them. The game ended 0-0 and it went straight into penalties.
A fantastic performance from all the girls and I’m super proud of them all!
Player of the match: Shanae – amazing dribbling with the ball and fantastic defending off the ball.
Sapphires (U12) sponsored by BQI Protection
Sapphires played Deanshanger Colts today in a very evenly sided game. Sapphires knew if they won they were guaranteed second spot.
Sapphires started slightly off the pace and conceded after a sustained bit of pressure from Deanshanger 10 minutes into the game. Sapphires gradually pulled themselves back into it creating the odd chance but it remained 1-0 at half-time.
In the second half Sapphires really pushed for an equaliser and got their reward when Shania Ismail broke through with about 10 minutes left and hit a shot that looped in over the keeper to make it 1-1, this was the final score.
The whole squad were brilliant again, fighting back from a goal down to earn a deserved draw.
The draw means Sapphires must win against Stotfold in their final league game to finish 2nd.
Eagles (U18) sponsored by Tarbox Cleaning Services
On a deceptively cold Sunday afternoon Eagles travelled to Roade to take on Hanslope Hornets for the third time this season. With a loss and a draw in the previous two encounters it was all to play for to draw the trilogy for Eagles. The game got underway, and it was immediately clear that this could be a close game with the play moving from end to end.
Neither team managed to find the net in the first half, both keepers easily dealing with the incoming attacks. Eagles started the second half with an energy that belied the fact they only had two subs. With pressure applied a searching cross from Archie Marley found Bailey Crowley at the far post for a neat headed finish. The City team finding energy from the one nil lead were on a charge and within five minutes another through ball from Archie found Nathan Kaye in space to finish with his left.
With nearly thirty minutes left to play and Eagles not taking a two goal lead for granted the pressure continued but Hanslope still had legs and countered on more than one occasion but Nathan Olphin in goal dealt with any loose balls. Cities third goal came from a free kick on the right hand edge of the box, Ethan Nicholls slotting the ball home in the bottom left corner. With less than ten minutes to play a long clearance from the City keeper again found Nathan Kaye on his own in front of goal to make the final score four nil to Eagles.
A solid team performance from Eagles in both defence and midfield promises to make the run in to the end of the season an interesting time for all.
Jaspers (U9) sponsored by Brioche Pasquier
So Jaspers travelled once again to Olney in a bowl game and were unfortunately knocked out but not due to the girls effort as the girls where amazing and played their heart out. They worked so well getting back into the game after the second quarter but they just couldn’t get the ball in the net.
Well done to Gracie who got managers players and Sophia for getting parents player. Very proud of all the girl and they wore their MK City badge with pride.
Lions (U16) sponsored by Makewell
Lions lost 1-0 to 2nd placed Heelands Rangers. We outplayed them for large parts of the game unfortunately a defence mistake and a missed penalty for Lions were the deciding factors. Still very proud of the performance, workrate and team spirit. Heading in the right direction.
Man of the Match was JJ
Tigers (U7) sponsored by DH Construction
Tigers fought a hard game this weekend against Newport Pagnell at home. They had a cracking start with a beautiful goal but the Newport Pagnell team were in fighting form and took the advantage. The boys took a lot of injuries this week with one quarter having almost every team member playing.
Man of the Match: Hudson
