WEEKEND ROUNDUP – 26/27 February 2022

WEEKEND ROUNDUP – 26/27 February 2022
February 27, 2022 by Stuart Ridout

Reminder – in accordance with FA rules we do not publish the results of teams participating in U7 to U11 games. We celebrate effort, teamwork and participation in the younger teams.

JASPERS (U9) SPONSORED BY BRIOCHE PASQUIER

This week Jaspers travelled all the way to Olney to play their first away game. They started off not so well but once in the game the goals started coming. Even an own goal was created but that didn’t matter as the girls just laughed it off and moved on to next quarter.

The girls all came away smiling and very proud of their self. The amount of support from their team mates and their parents meant a lot. They look like a great family already and the girls have such a great bond already.

Another good week for Jaspers with loads of goals! The girls are getting better and better with each week and increasing in confidence. We are back home next week in a bowl game.

Parents player of match was Isla and managers player was given to Gracie-May. Well done girls and on to Luton in the cup next week!

Eagles (U18) sponsored by Tarbox Cleaning Services

MK City Eagles U18 vs Woodside U18 Blues

The Eagles took on Woodside Blues for the third time this season on Sunday afternoon. The previous two encounters having gone in division leaders Woodsides favour.  The home team battled well through the first half but fell victim to two early goals the second coming from a penalty. They looked to be going to half time two nil down, but Woodside scored a third from a well worked cross finished with a header to take a three-nil lead at the break.

The second half was a different affair with the MK City team having the bulk of  possession and a number of promising attacks being thwarted by the Woodside defence. Then at the 70 minute mark a long pass through the mid field from Ethan Nicholls fell to Haider Abassi for him to force his way through and beat the Woodside keeper.  The game intensified for the last twenty minutes and despite every effort the game ended three one to Woodside. The bright but low winter sun hampering both teams throughout the match.

Man of the Match:-Joe Osborne

WOLVES (U9) SPONSORED BY ANV MEASUREMENT SYSTEMS

Wolves battled hard in less than ideal conditions on an away trip to North Marston & Granborough. The boys played the great passing game we’ve become accustomed to and Eden got Wolves goal through an excellent shot from outside of the box.

Both teams had chances and it was end to end stuff from the outset. All the players were covered in mud and well and truly knackered by the end but were still smiling.

Man of the Match, as voted by the opposition coaches, was debutant Jensen who pressed the defence in his centre forward role and was a constant threat on the break.

Tigers (U7) sponsored by DH Construction

Originally due to play at home, we had a last minute switch to play at Olney due to pitch conditions at Tattenhoe Lane. So off we went to meet Olney Town Colts U7 Vipers at their ground. We didn’t have our regular goalkeeper but Ryan and Hudson stepped up and did a cracking job, each covering half the game.

Olney got some early goals in and the boys were a little despondent in the first half but a quick pep talk at half time did the job with the team coming back fighting. Their first goal in the second half really lifted the spirits and they started playing well together.

We’re definitely seeing the team starting to gel well together and playing well as a team.

Man of the Match – Ryan
Parents’ Player – Tanush
