Although it was another chilly weekend it was great to wander around Tattenhoe Lane and Derwent Drive pitches to see all the teams out there giving it their all.
We’re looking for more volunteers who are interested in becoming coaches. You wouldn’t believe how many young people are looking for teams to play in but most of our teams are full up! It’s a nice problem to have but we want to enable more young people to play the game they love. If you’re interested in becoming a coach please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Reminder – in accordance with FA rules we do not publish the results of teams participating in U7 to U11 games. We celebrate effort, teamwork and participation in the younger teams.
TIGERS (U7) SPONSORED BY DH CONSTRUCTION
First game back for the Tigers since the Christmas break and we headed over to Newport Pagnell to face the U7 Panthers. All the boys gave it a great shot and there were a couple of cracking goals from Frankie with an amazing assist by Ryan who powered it down the pitch from defence.
The teams were quite well matched so it was an interesting game with Panthers scoring a few great goals.
Great refereeing from the Newport Pagnell ref who really took time to explain to the players why he had made a particular call. That’s the kind of thing that really helps the players to develop.
Congratulations to Ryan who was man of the match!
Pearls (U8) Sponsored by Mini Monsters
The Pearls played with pace and passion today as they took on a very physical encounter with Kempston Rovers. A worthy player of the match went to Crystal today as she put in some very brave saves to challenge the Kempston striker. Vega battled away with comments from coaches for the second week running on how assertive she is as a commanding presence.
Upfront another great game for Amelia-Terry with some powerful drives down the right wing. Miami making some testing crosses and shots from the left.
Again lots of positives to take from the game today.
Jets (U11) sponsored by WAC Agency
Jets v Bromham Youth 9v9
Our first game of 9v9 and we only had 9 players available against a squad of 14 for Bromham. We were 2 up at Halftime but in the second half our energy dropped and the fresh legs of Bromham got back in the game and we ended up losing. The girls all played so well and did the club proud, with their never say die attitude.
A great three goals for Kitty our Girl of the Match.
JADES (U10) SPONSORED BY TCS
Flitwick Eagles v MK City Jades
MK City Jades had their first game back since Christmas. They girls started the game brilliantly, they created lots of chances in the first quarter and within 10 minutes Francesca opened the scoring from Scarlett’s great pass. They girls showed amazing passing, teamwork, and communication.
Despite the girls not playing for the past 5 weeks they really well and did the club proud.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH: Martha – she was amazing throughout the whole game!
SAPPHIRES (U12) SPONSORED BY BQI PROTECTION
Sapphires went to MK United at Fairfields playing on the 3G pitch.
Sapphires started the game very well playing some great football and limiting Uniteds chances with some great defensive work from the whole team but in particular the back 3 of Amelie Taft, Grace Buckingham and Emily Thompson and Centre Mid Arabella Mantle who worked tirelessly. Shania Ismail hit the post after about 10 minutes, then Sapphires were awarded a penalty 5 minutes later which Shania smashed into the top corner. Another 5 minutes on and some great work down the right allowed Ava Martuccio to cross for the arriving Shania who added to her first goal. 2-0 at half time.
Second half Sapphires started very strong and took control of the game. Maisie Burchmore added a third and could have increased that tally then Grace McCormack went clean through slotting home to make it 4-0. United are currently top of the division and proved that position in the final 10 minutes where they managed score a couple and put us under some real pressure. Charlotte Stevens made some fantastic saves late on but the whole team dug in to see the game out. 4-2 to Sapphires final score.
Great result for the girls and fully deserved it for their efforts.
We all knew a trip away to top of the table Linslade Galaxy was going to be a tough match but the Jaguars stepped up their game this week to meet the challenge.
The whistle blows and both sides come out flying. It was end-to-end football with good attacking and counter-attacking from both the Galaxy and the Jaguars. With a few near misses each it was Linslade that struck first, a full 16 minutes into the first half. Off we go again! Both teams come close to scoring and both hit the crossbar with shots but its a momentary lapse in concentration that opens up an opportunity for Linslade again. Barely minutes after the restart and a missed clearance presents Linslade with another chance and they finish with style. The score might be 3-0 to Linslade but the score doesn’t represent the determination shown by the Jaguars.
The second half gets underway and it’s more of the same from Galaxy and the Jaguars. Both teams are really putting on a performance for the coaching team and parents. Linslade make a good break and score another but the Jaguars are more determined than ever. Less than 5 minutes after the goal, Rio collects the ball inside the centre circle and turns towards the Linslade goal, he takes a touch and then unleashes an absolute thunderbolt of a shot that the Linslade goalkeeper just can’t contain! Wow!! What a shot!!! The crowd and the players erupt with shouts & applause!!!! The game continues with some fantastic displays of passing from Linslade, quality defending by the Jaguars and yet more chances for both. Linslade score another to make it 5-1 but it’s a fantastic game to watch.
he Jaguars are throwing everything they have got into this one and they are committed to this challenge. Linslade score a great headed goal from a corner and then 7 minutes later, a break from Jeremy down the right wing (as well as some intricate footwork) create a chance for Charlie to finish with a powerful shot into the top left corner, 6-2!!! Linslade create yet more chances and score another goal to make it 7. Entering into the last 5 minutes and although the Jaguars are still going, Linslade continue their relentless attack. During the last 5 minutes the Jaguars concede another 2 but the determination to carry on remains and they are battling until the final whistle. What a match!
This was one of the hardest matches the Jaguars have played this season against one of the best sides in the league. The players continued to play to the best of their ability and showed coaches/parents how committed they are to the team. The hard work and effort from every single player was fully on display but it was Ryan & Luke who won the awards for performance of the match – both with outstanding defensive displays. Every single player did the club, their parents, the coaches and themselves proud today. Although we lost the match we gained so much from this experience that we can take nothing away from it but positives. Linslade Galaxy are a great team and we wish them all the best for the rest of the season.
The Jaguars continue the search for their first win of the season with renewed confidence, a sense of pride and smiling faces all round… Go Jaguars!!!!!
CRYSTALS (U18) SPONSORED BY J CRESSWELL LANDSCAPING
U18 Crystals travelled away to the league leaders minus three players, and after starting slowly last week, came out of the blocks flying this week and were 4-0 up at half time, with goals from Hermione Hilton (2), Rozalia Zycinska, and Madi Sharp.
The second half was a different story however, when the leaders stepped it up more than one gear and ran out winners. Castlethorpe 8-4 Crystals.
Hopefully next time out Crystals will piece two halves together!
Post an extended Christmas break, Saints were on road to face Padbury Village U8s. With 2 Covid cases and a few declines, we were down to 6 players for our 5×5 fixture. The warm-up started on a even worrying note, when only 4 players turned up. As it progressed, we were relieved to see our regular goalkeeper, Tommy join us, especially given he was not on the original team sheet.
With 6 players to start with (one of our originally available players was still AWOL 🙁 ), Saints started the match on a rusty note. Falcons began on a high tempo and scored within the 1st 3 minutes. That shook up the Saints playing unit and we immediately went on a counterattack, with our striker Dan scoring a couple in the next 6 mins. Quarter 1 ended with some engaging end to end football.
The 2nd quarter started with Saints pushing high and scoring more goals courtesy Rishaan and Dan. Our Midfield-Defence set up was now looking watertight and proved a stumbling block for many a Falcons charge. This was the tone for rest of the match as well. Even then, there were some brilliant thrusts from Falcons, thwarted equally by our goalkeeper, Tommy, who was exceptional throughout.
The 3rd & 4th quarters saw fluent passing play from Saints, who demonstrated learnings from the training and warm up sessions. That was a joy to watch. More goals followed, this time from Vivaan & Dan.
Our goalkeeper Tommy was player of the match for his superb keeping skills. He saved many a shot at the goal, with his alertness and goalkeeping skills. A special ‘Player of the Session’ rolling award was given to Dan, for his all-round skills in attack, defence and also passing to players.
For Saints, this match was a demonstration of our passing and counter attacking skills as a Team. During our trainings, we will continue to build on these strengths and work on formations.
The boys continue to enjoy their trainings sessions & matches and take great pride & joy in playing for ‘Team Saints’ and Passing. Well done boys!
TOPAZ (U10) SPONSORED BY MK LOFTBOARDING AND CC LANDSCAPE
Topaz headed to Deanshanger to play a hard team Deanshanger Colts but they gave it a good go with new girls joining the team we gave all the girls lots of opportunities, goals where scored and very proud of all the girls, one in particular Layla who stood out to not just the managers and coaches but to the parents. She was on fire with everything she was knocked down all she die was get right up. Well done Topaz.
Kacie was coaches player and Layla was parents player
A great 6-1 win today for the ladies today. We had a really rough first half only making 2-0 but after a little break and a team talk the girls changed gears and was relentless with Cara Brooker scoring 5 of her goals today!
Eagles drew 2-2 with Hanslope in today’s match.
What an exciting game it was. U16 Hawks equalised before the half time but conceded a second goal from a free kick, it was obvious we were missing our goal keeper.
Kris in goal was doing his best and the boys fought to get an equaliser or a point. It was not to be as Keanan missed a penalty for the Hawks before the end of the game. We lost 2-1 but I am so proud of these boys and how hard they work. Our only goal from Keanan was a sublime volley from the middle of the pitch.
Man of the match was Callum.
