Diamonds (U15) sponsored by Autotech Recruitment
This morning Diamonds played against Kettering who sat one place below us in the league, and only three points behind us. It was a game we needed to win as we hope to have a strong finish to the season.
We started the first half quite slow and ended up going a goal down. We weren’t playing our normal football and was constantly wasting possession.
Thankfully, our striker Leah who is now the top goal scorer in the league added to her tally with a fantastic long-range goal. We went into half time 1-1.
Second half the girls came out much stronger and controlled all aspects of the match. And our constant pressure from corners and crosses led to a handball in the box giving us a penalty which was calmly put away by our winger Tia. Not long after our striker Leah volleyed home her second of the day and her 25th of the season to secure a 3-1 victory.
Player of the match was Tia.
Tiger’s Eye (U14) Sponsored by WAC Agency
A cold start, pitch just thawing as Tigereye kick start the first half. All guns blazing the team were energised and cohesive. Two great goals, Gabby from a free kick just outside penalty box and then later followed by Caitlin from a cheeky shot across a packed penalty box. Conceded one from the penalty spot but strong leaders at half time 2-1 up.
Second half – Caddington came out fighting for the win. Tigereye heads dipped allowing Caddington to break through our defence. 2-3 with 5 minutes to go the work rate was intense both teams giving it all but the result stuck and Caddington took the win.
Chyan and Holly did a great job today as stand-in goalies. Special mention to Angelina who had a great debut game today, she was solid in defence and fitted straight into the Tiger’s Eye setup. Well done City girls!
As always thank you to the parents/family’s watching for the great support and encouragement from the sidelines.
Opponents player – Caitlin
Parents player – Caitlin
Managers player – Angelina
JASPERS (U9) SPONSORED BY BRIOCHE PASQUIER
Jaspers played at home today in a development game against a hard Aylesbury team. With the weather being 4 seasons ☀️❄️🍃☔ the girls powered through. The end result was amazing and with allowing the girls to move around and find their position. Lucy coming on pitch and Sophia taking a turn into goal but became very confident and the defence only allowed to be knocked back once.
The team are a great bunch of girls that are very welcoming and Inaya with playing her first match. Well done girls.
Lucy got managers player and Peyton got parents player.
CRYSTALS (U18) SPONSORED BY J CRESSWELL LANDSCAPING
Our U18 Crystals played at home versus Aylesbury U18 girls, missing usual two key strikers. It was a fairly even game, but one that Crystals would most certainly have won had we been at full strength. Crystals lost the game 1-0. The game was decided by a soft penalty, awarded to Aylesbury when what appeared to be shoulder to shoulder in the box, was deemed by the referee to be a push by the Crystals defender. Aylesbury converted the penalty, though keeper Molly Norman so nearly got there.
It was a missed opportunity as the league leaders also dropped points, but we go again.
POTM was Kiera Footman.
Tigers (U7) sponsored by DH Construction
Tigers had another tough game this week away to Great Linford Spartans. The Tigers have had a rough few matches recently but the boys are keeping their spirits up. This week we were missing a couple of players so less time on the subs bench for everyone. The boys really played well together and the third quarter was a spectacular display. Amazing goals for Rafi and Teddy this week with some great shots on target for birthday boy Hudson.
Keep at it Tigers and we’ll be back on fine form!
Man of the Match was Ryan
Parents Player was Rafi
Wolves (U9) sponsored by ANV Measurement Systems
Wolves played some excellent football on a brisk morning at home this week. Coming up against an excellent Shenley team the boys moved the ball well and defended in numbers.
Albie grabbed Wolves’ only goal of the game smashing the ball in to the roof of the net as it bounced in the box.
Definitely the best performance the boys have put in this season and delightful to see them working for each other.
Man of the Match was Elliot who was excellent in a defensive midfield role, breaking up play and launching attacks with some excellent passes.
