Lightning (U9) SPONSORED BY Top Diner
MK City U9 Lightning continued their fine form with a visit to Bromham.
It was a lovely day for football, and buoyed by recent results Lightning started on the front foot, maintaining the majority of possession, though the decisions in the attacking half weren’t up to normal Lightning standards.
Second half saw Alfie make 3 quick fire saves in as many minutes before Lightning took control, a superb hat trick from Theo and a shot into the top of the net from James alongside a watertight defensive display meant Lightning went home happy.
Man of the match went to Theo for his goals as his improved midfield passing.
Bromham are a great team with friendly coaches and a top class ref, thanks to all for making this a great day of U9 football.
Jets (U11) sponsored by WAC Agency
Away match against a strong Woburn & Wavendon Clarets. We held them 1-1 at the halfway stage but lost our way in the second half and conceded a few more goals and lost in the end.
We could have lost heavily if it wasn’t for many great saves from our keeper Florence as well as great defending from Freya and Maisylee.
Girl of the match Faith
Pearls (U8) sponsored by Mini Monsters
Pearls today played at home to a very strong Woburn team. The first quarter didn’t work out for the Pearls as they played too deep which allowed Woburn to take an early lead. Pearls responded well and kept the ball in the opposition half, frustrating Woburn in their attack. Some excellent defensive play by Holly and Vega with some excellent saves by Crystal kept the score down.
Eventually the inevitable happened and Miami scored from outside the area with a shot. Player of the match belonged to Robyn who kept going the whole game with real enthusiasm.
The sun was up early, as were the Jaguars for what proved to be one of the best football matches of the season so far as we welcomed top of the league Linslade Galaxy U12 Ajax.
The game started at a fast pace with both teams looking to gain an early lead. We saw some fantastic end-to-end football with shots aplenty but somehow the first goal didn’t arrive until the 25th minute – and it was the Jaguars who struck first! A well-placed looping pass by Alfie found Riley in space, he controlled well and slotted the ball into the bottom left corner. A 2nd goal in 2 games for Riley and a confident finish gave the Jaguars a boost & they went in 1-0 up at half-time. What a half of football!!!!
The 2nd half got underway and Linslade were looking to strike back fast. After some lovely passing football from the kickoff they took the Jaguars by surprise and scored their first, 60 seconds in. Barely another 2 minutes had passed and Rio picked up a loose ball just inside the half to unleash an amazing right foot shot into the top right-hand corner – 2-1 Jaguars – the game was well and truly on! The attacking football continued with both sides looking determined to go all out for the win. Linslade put together a fantastic pass and move to score their 2nd on 36 minutes to make it 2-2! There was not much between the sides but Linslade held fast, defended well and hit back on the break to score a 3rd on 41 minutes and then a 4th on 43 minutes. This didn’t deter the Jaguars though as they continued to press for another goal. They were rewarded on 58 minutes after a great forward run by Charlie, he slotted the ball across to Lewis who finished in style for his 6th goal of the season.
With the score 4-3 to Linslade Galaxy the final whistle blew but it was to applause from all around. Linslade are a fantastic football team and the Jaguars rose to the challenge today to give a seasons best performance. Every single player committed to the match and each other, supporting their team mates and showing exactly what they can do. The coaching team, the parents and the club couldn’t be any more proud of this team, the way they give their best week-in, week-out and show positivity throughout.
We are nearing the end of the season now but it’s been a real journey. We look forward to travelling to Wingrave next week for our penultimate fixture – go Jaguars!!!!!
Wolves (U9) sponsored by ANV Measurement Systems
MK City Wolves came up against an excellent Wingrave Wasps team and had to battle hard to stop the opposition creating chances in the opening period.
Chances were hard to come by but Wolves let little through their back line and in the second half they grew in confidence and started getting the ball into the box and creating some clearcut chances.
Man of the Match today was Albie for another excellent performance. He kept the ball well, used his trickery and brought other players into the attack well.
Tigers (U7) sponsored by DH Construction
Tigers played at home against Tattenhoe Youth U7 Pumas. It was a great match between the two teams with great game play by both teams.
The team’s skill level has really increased over the last few months and we can see that in the way they play together. Well done Tigers!
Man of the Match – Rohan for amazing goalkeeping!
Parent’s Player – Frankie for adapting to whatever position he was put in and scoring some great goals.
Jaspers (U9) sponsored by Brioche Pasquier
Jasper’s traveled to Luton to play a game that has been postponed. The girls came out with the new kit and managed to the happiness going along with the sunshine.. brilliant save with Lucy getting the ball to her face not once but twice and still saving it.
All the girls were using their training session tactics and passed to players which meant more goals where made and defending their area by the one defender.
Well done to Lucy for parents player and Isla for managers player.
