WEEKEND ROUNDUP – 16/17 OCTOBER 2021

WEEKEND ROUNDUP – 16/17 OCTOBER 2021
October 17, 2021 by Stuart Ridout

Reminder – in accordance with FA rules we do not publish the results of teams participating in U7 to U11 games. We celebrate effort, teamwork and participation in the younger teams.

Topaz (U10) had their first game today as the newest team in the club. They played brilliantly with their team getting into the full swing, defending and managing to keep Deanshanger fillies from scoring. Izzy played fantastically and received player of the match. Ava Grace received parents player of the match.

Dan, Mark, Mo and the rest of the club are very proud.

Hawks (U16) beat Moretonville U16 4-1 at home today. The boys stepped up their game in the 2nd half 👏and are currently 4 league games unbeaten. Imran Mohammed scored 2 goals, Eoin Fisher scored the 3rd goal and Krisztian Pal got the 4th goal. As usual a water tight defence and good goal keeping. Man of the match Imran Mohammed 🙌.

Tigers (U7) went into our match today with only 1 sub so we’re a little worried that the boys would get really worn out. Well, no such thing happened.  We had a couple of goals in the net within the first few minutes of the game and used this to keep motivated. The boys played fantastically as a team, passing, giving each other options and playing in the positions they were asked to go into.

Teddy was awarded Man Of The Match due to his brilliant defending, long kicks and tackles.  Great goals from Frankie and Hudson but every member of the team worked hard and totally deserved the win.

Saints (U8s) came across a very well organized and well drilled Bedford Town FC U8 team. A barrage of goals from the visiting team meant, we were down in the first quarter. Our boys though, did not throw in the towel at all and were raring to go. They regrouped quickly, listened to the instructions during the break, settled down and played well for rest of the match. The remaining 3 quarters were more evenly matched.

Our defence and goalkeeping were very good for a large part of the match. Rishaan was the standout performer with his engaging tackles and superb clearance. He easily saved at least 5 attempts with his efforts. He was well supported in the goal by Tommy, who showed all round improvement with his positioning, attacking the ball and some lovely saves.
The midfield quartet of Jude, Kaison, Niam and Vivaan put in a much improved performance as the match progressed, pushing up and feeding the ball to our striker, Daniel.

Lots of good learnings for our nascent team from the game. Proud of the boys for their efforts & recovery.  Birthday boy Rishaan was player of the match with his awesome defence and match presence.

Lightning (U9) had another tight encounter followed with both sets of players giving their all and showing superb skill.

Highlights from Lightning was some superb defensive play from Taylor and Albie, and exciting midfield running from Liam and Theo.

Man of the match went to our Northampton Town and MK City Lightning keeper Alfie who gave an unbelievable performance in goal, even drawing praise from the Wixam faithful.

Well done to the 8 Lightning heroes who made the trip and well done to the players who were representing their schools in cross country, also get well soon Barney and James.

Rubys (U14) had a great time today and had to drop to 9 aside due to the other team having Covid cases.

Rubys were also without out first team goalkeeper, but Jazz stepped up and did really well. Good battle from the Rubys, who played some great football and deserved the win,

Special mention to Skye who scored a hat trick !

Diamonds (U15) had a very special win today against a team we’ve never beaten before. Fantastic 3-1 win and never gave up from start to finish.

On top of the drama our goal keeper managed to save a penalty to keep it level. ⚽️💎

Mens (Saturdays) didn’t get the result the lads would’ve wanted to as we lose our unbeaten run away to Newport. City looked in control in most parts of the game. After some early pressure from The home team forcing Robbie to make some fantastic saves, city started gaining moment and it paid of as Vinny Fullilove slotted in the bottom right hand corner before the half time whistle.

Second half saw city passing the ball around nicely but couldnt find the second goal to see off the game and with 20 minutes To go saw Newport really attack from the right hand side scoring 3 goals in about 10 minutes. Due to injuries city really couldn’t get the second wind they needed to get back in the game, which saw the home team take all 3 points.

We go again next week in the cup vs MK Wanderers ⚽️💪

Ambers (U11) made an excellent start against Moretonville. Many goals from Ambers in the first 8 minutes with Iyla scoring a fantastic long range effort, followed by a close range effort from Scarlott and another great goal from Natasha. Natasha then added another great solo goal before the break and managed to complete her hattrick towards the end of the game.

All the girls had an amazing game with Girl of the Match going to Scarlott.

Sapphires (U12) put in another great performance to extend their winning run to 3 games with a 5-0 win against Stony Stratford.

Goals coming from Shania Ismail x2, Ava Martuccio x2 and Grace McCormack.

Goalkeeper Charlotte Stevens with her first clean sheet of the season after a solid defensive display from the entire team.
