We’re back for ’22! It’s the MK City FC Weekend Roundup! Happy New Year to all players, supporters, parents and our volunteers. It’s been a wet weekend with grotty weather so thanks to everyone for getting out there!
We’d also like to welcome our new sponsor Nested who are sponsoring the Mens North Bucks Team.
We’re looking for more volunteers who are interested in becoming coaches. You wouldn’t believe how many young people are looking for teams to play in but most of our teams are full up! It’s a nice problem to have but we want to enable more young people to play the game they love. If you’re interested in becoming a coach please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Reminder – in accordance with FA rules we do not publish the results of teams participating in U7 to U11 games. We celebrate effort, teamwork and participation in the younger teams.
Lions (U16) sponsored by Makewell
Towcester Tigers 3 – 4 MK City Lions
The weather was not our friend at Lion’s first match of the new year as it it was blowing a gale and raining hard at Towcester Tigers’ home ground. KO and in a game where Lions maintained the majority of the possession in the first 15, however the opposition are not second in the league for no reason and scored on the break putting Lions 1-0 down.
Lions were determined to make amends and Trivon broke through to score and level up the match by the 20th minute. In 35th minute Lions broke through again and yep Trivon scored again so we went into the half time break 1-2 up.
Second half started well with a huge battle in the midfield that Lions were winning but the opposition got a break and scored levelling the game at 2-2. Lions had their tail up with Ryan sweeping the ball from a defensive position and Chris flicking the ball through their midfield to Trivon again the get his Hatrick by capitalising on a fumble from their GK giving us back the lead 2-3.
In the 60th minute Chris got through their defence and went passed the GK making the score 2-4.
Finally Towcester pulled one back but it was not enough and Lions maintained possession to the final whistle.
Man of the Match was awarded to Trivon who most definitely deserved it.
I would like to mention Joe the Referee who was a superb official thank you.
Jets (U11) sponsored by WAC AGENCY
A good performance from Jets against a strong Kempston side, who had a much larger squad.
We played 9 v 9, and scored good goals, one by Eloise and the other by Kitty with both Aiva and Jessia having 2 shots each that were well saved by the Kempston keeper.
Defensively we played very well against a big strong attacking lineup.
Girl of the Match was Ella.
PEARLS (U8) SPONSORED BY MINI MONSTERS
Tough lessons for the Pearls who were without several key players today as they battled a very physical side in Tring Tornadoes. The pitch and weather were terrible as Tring took advantage of a slow start by the Pearls.
Second half and the Pearls found their pace and aggression in the tackle and another scoring spree by Miami as Peals dominated the second half, who bravely carried on after a high footed challenge by a Tring player. Cool headed defensive display by Holly and Vega, with Ruby in goal ensured the second half was all Pearls.
The stand out performance today was from Amelia-Terry who never stopped in her first game for the team.
RUBYS (U14) SPONSORED BY MATRIX
Mortenville 4 – 5 MK City Rubys
After a late agreement to switch pitches, the Rubys took an early lead which they never let go of, though the last 5 mins were very nervy. The team played well and whilst the rain didn’t help, the girls can be very proud of themselves!
MEN’S A TEAM SPONSORED by MK Ply Lining
Bletchley Park 1 – 4 MK City ‘A’
Great team performance today, every player put a shift in on a difficult pitch to play on. Second half especially we played good passing football and created numerous chances, on another day could have scored a few more if not for some great saves from the opposing keeper.
Man of the Match – Chad
