Excellent 4-0 win today for MK City Diamonds in their first preseason game at home to Wootton Rangers Youth.
The Diamonds dominated the first half with some beautiful passing and possession, this led to Macy receiving the ball on the edge of the box and scoring a screamer in the top left corner. Soon after The Diamonds scored their first, they grabbed a second. Keira received a perfectly weighted through ball which led to her slotting home her first of what I’m sure will be many for the season ahead.
As the second half got under way, The Diamonds started to receive pressure from the opposition which resulted in top class defending from the back line. Well organised and great communication meant they were tough to break down.
The Diamonds grew into the game as the second half went on and gained some more possession allowing Shantai to pick up the ball on the wing and make a lovely solo run beating two players and placing it past the keeper in a very well composed goal. The Diamonds kept the pace up throughout the second half and applied pressure from the front which led to a foul from the opposing team resulting in a penalty. Chloe confidently stepped up and placed the ball in the back of the net, putting the icing on the cake for an excellent first preseason game for The Diamonds.
A massive shoutout to Jamie-Leigh who stood in as a backup goalkeeper today making some great saves and keeping a clean sheet.
Player of the match was given to Chloe by her Manager and Coaches for her stellar performance in midfield today.
An overall strong and confident outing from all the girls, showing their attacking and defensive capabilities, scoring four and keeping a clean sheet.
